deshbhakti!

Anna Hazare nahin, hazaaron hain! - Gulzaar
masha allah kya baat kahi hai... But...

Anna hazare says that he has given his life to people, he LIVES for the well being of OTHER ppl!! Whats that!?
He says that he didn't have a reason to live, and he wanted to commit suicide, but he got inspired by the life of swami Vivekananda..the thing that the purpose of life is to serve others. Seems crap... Why would, and why should, i give my life for somebody else!
But dekha jaye to he feels happy by serving others. He is working to remove corruption, and that makes ME happy. Aur kya chahiye? I  wud want to say that he is an idiot if he says that he is living to serve others. (But Shit, the 'others' includes me too! )
Deshbhakti... thats the word used everywhere. The feelings of deshbhakti are fed into the brains of almost everybody i know!

"You should love your country!" - this sentence is believed to be a premise, but it is not! (thanks to Atlas Shrugged for giving me the word- premise) Say I try to export some arms to pakistani terrorists, (i won't, can't, do that!), you would hate me... why is that? u would say ' tu gaddar hai... !" just because for u it is a PREMISE! something that is 'true'! But kaun bola bhai? Being called a gaddar brings a feeling of guilt...(just because some people who wanted power over us..they make us feel guilty.. this thought came from The Fountainhead, copied as it is, and convinced to the fullest)

Sabse jyada to bewkoof sainiko(soldiers u know..) ko banaya jaata hai yaar... saara din yahi baat phoonkte rehte hain ki love ur country, die for ur country, sarhad pe jaan doge to jannat (!?) naseeb hogi... fakr ki baat hai sarhad pe jaan dena.. kyu bhai? This also becomes the reason for somebody to join the army! goli khaake aata hai koi soldier to ghamand karta hai...or at least feels proud...  can't understand this... if u die.. the game's over... then it might be nothing my friend..

Hum bhi kum bewkoof nahi banate unka.. We say that soldiers should get more salary.. they should be able to meet their expenses ....salaam thokte hain unhe...bas unme hawa bharne ke liye.. why? because we do not want to do the things that they are doing! they are protecting us! without caring for their lives.. aur hum unme hawa bharte hain ki jaao lado.. jaan de do.. par hamari jaan na jaane paye...
But even then, soldiers are happy for what they are doing. So nothing else matters. My only problem is , that i don't want anybody, to make anybody else WANT to die at the border. If it is their own choice, which i think will never be unless anybody else does some brainwashing, then if he wants to give his life for me, then who would be happier than me?

  1. Yaar..army me log apni marzi se jaate hai.. kuch logo ke liye paisa important hota hai..kisi ke liye respect..kisi ke liye conscience important hota hai..koi protective hote hai..ki mere hote huwe meri country ko koi haath nahi laga sakta(like we have for our family)..A person needs a purpose in life..if a person finds that then all corporeal logics of self promotion and self preservation fail..that is how humans are different from other animals..survival is not our agendum in life..and if a person (Anna) is suicidal anyway..survival would be his last priority

  2. once they are made to believe that dying for the country is the best thing they can do,they'll be happy to do it. Nobody would care. But they are just 'made' to believe so.
And 'we' are the ones who give them the respect, why? because we want them to continue what they are doing? 'my' answer would be yes.

  3. I would like to believe that Army is not born out of brainwashed youth..it's more of that in terrorist groups..and we don't respect them because they fight for us and we want to be safe.. we respect them because it is an honorable job..wouldn't you respect an army man if there is no war in next 50 years and he has had to fight no war at all? it has more to do that fact that they are willing to do something for us which we are not willing to do for ourselves.. that deserves respect because atleast I think they are superior human beings and because I am too selfish/ cowardly to think the way they do

  4. 1) if soldiers are not brainwashed...
if somebody has taken birth, and we don't feed him with all those national and patriotic songs, would he ever ever want to go to army? i don't think he would.
    2) how can u justify that terrorists are 'brainwashed' and soldiers are not?
just because terrorists are working against your will?
    3) Is selfishness a sin?
explaining that,i might write one more blog post for you :P

  5. hmm..I would say.. I do find it strange that regionalism is considered negative whereas patriotism positive.. I would say I choose to believe they do it by will and because I can not do that I think there is some superhuman ideology involved.. which I cannot experience so I respect them..
oh please..write a post on selfishness

  6. 1. Most of the soldiers go to army in want of money nd respect, and not becoz of that brainwashing abt patriotism!!! , although it acts as a booster for them while being there nd serving the nation. 2. Anna Hazare is also selfish becoz he is doing what he likes( fighting for the common good, if that's how u define selfishness! ), bt without such selfishness can one ever succeed in any field ?

  7. haan to vahi to.. if they go for money.. u won't call them 'patriotic' right? and if respect.. who is giving them that respect? hum hi to dete hain.. ki jao.. lado hamare liye. badle me merse respect milegi.. but problem isliye nahi hai because they are happy... but 'we' are the ones who force them them to be happy by giving them that respect. no?

and yes, 'that' is how i define selfishness..

  8. 1. If someone gets happiness in getting respect for working for the good of society, i don't see any problem there, bt my respect will even increase for him because i am not respecting him so that he feels proud(say a soldier) and continue providing his services to us, but because i am not great and daring enough to do what he is doing

    2. Your definition of selfishness is totally unacceptable because we cannot expect from anyone to indulge in things that do not interest him/her.
I would rather define selfishness as an act that does good for you and that does more harm than good to the society.....

  9. 1) I also don't see a problem where u don't see a problem. But when u say 'i am not great and daring enough, that's why i respect him' what does that mean? how is he great if he is fighting because that makes 'him' happy.. and is being daring a virtue?

    2) no problems in defining stuff.. u can define it as u want.. but then why is it a 'sin'? I defined it the way i did because i wanted to explain why i don't consider selfishness as sin and selflessness as a virtue...
instead selflessness seems to be stupidity sometimes, because some ppl do it because they are made to believe that it is a virtue.. and they get respect from us...
ye to essay hi ho gaya.. :P

  10. 1. My definition of great person : He/she can do something that is of more good to the society than bad, and that i cannot do, this is the precise reason of me calling soldiers great...

    2. Let's leave this, not making much sense now.
My definition of selfishness makes it a sin nd yours is more of "non-selflessness", and i too view it in a +ve sense. So, the diff. lies only in selfishness' definition!!!

  11. 1)umm.. and why would he be 'great'? aisa bhi kya kar dia?? Agar doosron ke lie kar rakha hai to bewkoof nahi hua kya? Hamare liye mehnat kar rha hai free me... aur khush bhi ho rha hai... bas respect mil rahi hai humse...
this will also take on the selfishness...

  12. you mean to say anybody working for common good is "bewkoof", and not respectable, not many people will agree to that!!!

  13. "not many people will agree to that".. that's what i don't understand...
